Im interested to find out what the average millage is on a 1.4 litre polo hatchback, with its 45 litre tank (that actually takes up to 54 litres).

My low petrol light came on two days ago, have still not filled up and im on 721.3 km for this tank.

Hows your millage?

I get around 8.5L/100km, sometimes 9L/100km and my worst was 10.5L/100km. Yes, it is bad for a 1.4, but you have to drive full throttle with this engine in Gauteng to get anywhere on time. Long distance it was in the mid 7's/100km. All these figures are with aircon on 70% of the time.

Oudtshoorn to Cape Town with my Polo 1.6TDI and 45L tank (also think its a 54L), fuel indicator said tank was still full.. Did 970km on that tank but filled up when it got to 1/4.. On average i get around 800km in town, including hard driving when i want to get somewhere quick.. I never drive on empty again, did it once before with my previous car and is no fun finding a station and a can of fuel..

Going off to knysna tonight so will see how much i can squeeze out there and back..

My 1.8 GSi is terribad. I get about 10L/100km in town which is killing me, however on the open road with the A/C on I get 6.4L/100km.
