Been trying to sell my grandfathers car to no success on gumtree, been asking 68000. How much would you say its worth?

2002 Land Rover Free Lander
3 door
Short wheel base
Automatic
Reconditioned engine(V6), and reconditioned gearbox, each with a 6 MONTH GUARANTEE!!
Removable Roof
Radio
Air conditioning
Great vehicle, in good condition and drives well!
156 000km

Any other free websites i should be trying to sell it on.
 
I wouldn't drive the old freelander if you paid me R68 000 :p

Jokes aside. Look at Autotrader and see what the going value is on the freelander.


Edit: Had a look and the price you are asking seems fair.

You may just need to wait it out until someone bites.

know any free sites? been on gum tree for like a month and no luck, only 1 guy who offered R30000 and got offeneded when i told him he was high:p

A vehicle is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it.
So even if you have a Ferrari "worth" R1 million - if you can only sell it for R1000 then that is what it's real worth is.

If you want to find the book values then give TransUnion a try.
They sell vehicle valuation data on their web site and they're easy and efficient to use.

Retail: 76,600.00

Your price is slap bang in between them, but consider...V6, and it's a Freelander, which has quite a bad rep.

Head off to a dealership and see what they'll offer you for it, ask them for the book values to confirm. From there on adjust price as necessary. (Also, add some value onto what the stealership feeds you)
 
If I was a buyer, I would wonder why the engine & transmission had to be recon'd on a car with (relatively) low mileage. Maybe leave that bit out :D

Oh, an no mention of service history, is there one? Full or partial? I wouldn't touch a car with no service history(ok, I mightin extreme cases) and many others feel the same, important bit there.

So not the Freeland 1 (as discussed in the OP) but the Freelander 2?

A Freelander 2 is not a Freelander 1, so comments made as to the Freelander 1s reliability should not be moved over onto the innocent Freelander 2.
