Hi

I use faxmail.
So obviously the larger the file uploaded the longer it takes to upload. Which can translate into the fax costing me more.

So for interest sake I hope someone can inlighten me to the following?

Taking A4 (210mm x 297 mm) as the measurement.

Does a compiled list exist which indicates more or less how much bytes/Mb each format takes up?
I'm aware there are different variables that can increase/decrease the space in each format.

Word(Just plain text) .doc
Excel .xls
Powerpoint .ppt
Notepad .txt
Gif image .gif
Tiff image .tiff
Jpeg .jpeg
Bitmapp .bmp
Adobe Acrobat reader .pdf

Many thanks

The problem is you are mixing image formats and text formats. Also you are mixing plain text with binary. But to keep it as simple as possible, the TXT files will be the smallest since they are just pure plain text. Great for sending as a fax, but not so great for receiving. Out of all the others (the image) formats JPG is the best image format with the highest compression and greatest storage option. If you are going to use PDF then consider registering Acrobat which offers the highest compression and you can store text files and image files within a PDF.

Best other format for storage and handling = PDF

Best Text storage format = Microsoft Office DocX or OpenOffice ODF.
