How much storage capacity do you think a modern desktop PC should have?

256GB SSD + 1TB HDD.
That's more then enough for even high end users.

For Windows OS and basic software (Office etc.) I get by pretty well with a 256GB SSD.

With Linux (Elementary OS) and basic software I get by pretty well with a 128GB SSD.

For something like an HTPC you would require some extra mechanical HDDs to store movies, games, music etc.

256GB SSD + 8TB 10000rpm harddrive.

Or in my my case
512Gb SSD + 512Gb SSD + 4TB drive for media + cloud for rest.

What will you be using it for?

Desktop PC for work only - One 256GB SSD is enough
Desktop for work plus some downloads - SSD + 1TB (More than just some downloads? then you need much more than 1TB)
HTPC - No SSD needed... 1 or more TB of data depending on how much content you plan to store on it.

I have around 30 users running on 64GB SSD's. No problems. Thats purely Windows 10 and Office 2016.

But I would say 500GB maximum.

64Gb SSD (OS) and 8TB for media.

Give me the space and I will fill it.

Minimum a 128GB SSD and additional > 1TB HDD if downloads/media are involved.

If case-space is a problem you can always get a Hybrid Drive (part of storage is SSD and the rest is HDD)-best of both worlds. Only hear positive things about these.

from Wikipedia : "In computing, a hybrid drive is a logical or physical storage device that combines a fast storage medium such as NAND flash solid-state drive (SSD) with a hard disk drive (HDD), with the intent of adding some of the speed of flash storage to the cost-effective storage capacity of traditional HDDs."

Minimum 500 GB, personally I have a 256 GB SSD and a 2 TB HDD in my desktop PC.

A Friend has 16.5 TB in his desktop / gaming / media PC, 4x 4 TB HDD and a 512 SSD. He lives out in the sticks on a farm without internet, so must store everything.
