Hi,

How much should I pay the painter I've hired? He painted 4 rooms and a passage way. Only the walls. Ceiling didn't need paint. And it's only the first coat of paint. He needs to come back and give it a second coat.

What's the price of painters nowadays?

Is he doing a good job? Using masking tape, no mess, even coat, not stealing your iPod. Maybe pay more ...;-)

Oops sorry! This was meant to be posted in offtopic! Mods please move.

I hired a paint company (is the guy you hired just a casual labourer or professional painter?) to paint 2 rooms last year and it cost me R 3 500, paint included.

Pay the painter for the job complete @ about R80 per wall after 2 coats.
Let him loan money from you during the job to a maximum of R50 a day.
If you pay the painter per day, he'll just take longer.

Tell the painter that you'll give him a R400 (you decide) bonus if it's a good job, and include that no paint must be spilled, all fixtures removed and put properly back, and all brushes and rollers and trays be spotless, and that the area where he cleans the paint equipment must also be spotless, and include a time - limit if you need to.

Ok, now I feel better. I did pay him R200. I'll give him something extra on Sunday when the job is done, because he did a pretty good job.

Good advice for the future. Thanks.
