My car was idling like crap the other day so I figured since I just got it, it may have been awhile since anyone changed the oil out. I decided to go ahead and change the oil. I used Mobile 1 synthentic oil like I was reccomended on here. Anyways, I drain out the oil and noticed it was extremely dark and even after 10 minutes of draining, it was still coming out. I decided to go ahead and flush it to make sure all the bad stuff got out. I hooked up the hose, ran water through the engine, started it up and was waiting for the water to come out clean (The engine never went above idle so I was told this would be ok). Anyways, About 3 minutes into this, then engine starts shaking and shuts off. I figured it was all cleaned out so I plugged it up, added the oil and figured I was ready to go. WRONG! The car won't freaking start now. This car has been nothing but trouble for me, I think I am done with it.

Yeh - I remember that one...

There's also the guy that wanted to sandblast his Audi - so he through sand in the engine - or some such...

The internet, it makes me smile - when I read about people like these, I feel so much better about myself... and know if they cans survive, so can I :)

Surely this oke is taking the piss ? LOL

I read a while back about somebody who added NOS octane booster to his bike. And then complained that it seezed the engine! When folks asked for pics, he posted NOS the ENERGY drink ..... :D

How do you guys feel about pressure-hosing your engine bay (from the top)? I saw a guy doing this to his brand new C-Class at the local wash'n'go and I was cringing the whole time.

I've actually been trying to figure out how to clean my engine on the s2k... Any tips?

I know some car washes do it, but not to sure how they do it.

I would worry about letting a pressure washer anywhere near my engine bay.

The last time I did an engine detail, I sprayed the engine bay down with the Sonax engine cleaner and let it sit for about 5 mins. Some of the really soiled bits were lightly agitated with a soft brush. Then I took my 2L pump sprayer and set it to "stream" instead of spray. This gave me more control on where the water went. With the hard work already done by the chemical and brush, all I was basically doing was a very light rinse. The last thing you want to do is wet the electrical parts. :( Once properly rinsed off, you can leave it to air dry, but I prefer to idle the car for a while as the heat from the engine helps to dry it quicker. Lastly you can treat all plastic bits with a bit of trim detailer. Make sure its not silicone based as that tends to attract dust. Once treated remember to followup with a light buff to remove excess product. Very important step as excess product that is not dry to the touch will also attract dust!

Some of the pics I snaped during the process:
