How restrictive is your office internet access?

No social networking sites, no Gmail,, no youtube, no car sites and no job searching.
 
oh yes....if we use a facebook shortcut we are blocked

but use google to search for Facebook and you can surf Facebook all day...

Not the smartest thing to do using company assets, it's the same as mailing your CV out from your company email address. I've actually seen this a few times and every time I think, how stupid are people that they do this
 
Streaming websites blocked & everything is logged. I suspect there are keyloggers too but don't really care one way or the other...hell I don't even browse mybb from work let alone do something sketchy.

At clients...doesn't matter...we tunnel through whatever security they have anyway. And if the tunnel can't get through then we get them to disable whatever is in the way.

LOL no I just like to check if my salary is in line with the "industry standard" from time to time .
 
totally open and can basically live on youtube/facebook. One guy at the office is constantly on 9gag even with the boss looking at his computer screen and the other torrents all day.

By your example I assume my work uses the same system.

All google services seem to be open, must check youtube, but internet is crap slow so wouldn't try streaming in any case. Some of the categories I've seen blocked are "Blogs", when I was looking for a solution to a MS Office problem, as well as "Humour" when trying to look at xkcd. Facebook, twitter etc are blocked, but not G+. Can access most sites which aren't deemed "time wasting" I guess. Banks, news sites etc are all open.
 
Very restrictive and also using Microsoft Forefront Threat Management to block access to sites. Due to the nature of my work, I have to share information constantly between head office and other smaller companies and offices by using online sharing solutions since the company IT does not provide any platform for this that covers all the different locations we need to share our information and data with.

Having IT knowledge does however allow me to escape from these restrictions by still using their equipment (laptop, etc.) with my own internet connection and just erasing all of my tracks when I want (secure erase by overwriting deleted information a couple of times and deleting the slack space on hard disk). ;)

LOL. People who want to do that sort of thing from their work equipment must realize that it is against our company policy and they can get dismissed if they they get caught doing this. Each user has Altiris Agent running on their machine that silently reports most activity and hard disk snapshots back to IT at least three times during the day. I would never use the work laptop for doing prohibited porn browsing unless dualbooting with linux installed on hard disk. :whistle:
 
No restrictions at all,

Use of the internet at work is dependent on how the network itself is performing. But I think user specified cap and filtering should be the standard here because it's not really fun cutting off everyone's legs for something that a bunch of other people ( or a handful at my workplace ) is doing.

The only time I open anything unrelated to work is when I get a link from someone else, that could be the effects of having your own internet too :erm:
