How safe is a VPN like ExpressVPN?

For that particular case, my download server is setup using docker and the clients instance runs its own vpn, so the rest of my net is open, it’s exclusively the downloaded that is hidden, if the vpn drops the entire instance dies so no chance of downloading anything without the active vpn connection.

Just be aware some services will block your connection if VPN is detected. Netflix, DSTV, prime, Shomax, YouTube music and probably a bunch more. So check with a trial account first.

This may only be an issue if you want to use a VPN 24x7 on all traffic.

Yes, Takealot another that blocks VPNs.

But, I just need something that will allow me to download my daily content without my ISP knowing what I am downloading and the VPN service not able to provide authorities any information when requested.

What you are looking for is split tunneling
 
Interesting, so enabled DNS over Https in Chrome, im not geo blocked anymore.

Sites like go.discovery now work.
