Recently moved to Centurion and I work in Midrand. My fiance works in Sandton.

All three locations are close to the stations and the train is making more sense to me than driving. Also, my car isn't very economical and sitting in peak traffic between Centurion and Midrand does not appeal to me nor does Centurion to Sandton to her.

Being vigilant on the stations is a given but I do have some concerns over having my work laptop etc in a backpack making me us targets. I'm more worried about her.

Has anyone had any negative experiences on either the Centurion, Midrand, or Sandton stations?

except for that one bit between Malboro and Midrand, where theres a gentle turn,
and some of the cars you hear a Loud bang bang, as I think its crossing over expansion joints or something on the tracks,

super safe, guards everywhere, cameras everywhere,

The train itself is fine but around the terminals and stations it's typical gangsters paradise and people are targeted especially when seen with laptop bags etc

That's the part I'm concerned about. While I don't mind having my work laptop taken... let's just say my company won't take too kindly to that.

Sandton is quite safe given there is EY, Discovery etc etc close by so there are more guards and more people walking with laptops. Just don't be flashy about it. Getting an uber from the stations on the other hand is a nightmare. Not sure about Midrand

Trains and stations are safe. The walk to and from could be an issue depending on where you work and live. Try it one day without laptops and get a feel. I know plenty that use it to Sandton and works for them. If you are a guy with a rucksack style laptop bag it should be OK. Phone snatching has been a bigger issue as well so don't walk with your phone out in Sandton. Several people I know have had their phone snatched while walking or waiting in even the best areas of Sandon CBD. They go directly into a car and run.

Very safe. Most people who use them also carry laptops and stuff. You’ll be fine.
@maxxis That's the thing. Many people carrying laptops etc. You will not be the exception.
I've gotten off at Park, Malboro, Midrand, Sandton and Hatfield.
No issues, with a normal laptop bag (Marlboro only stood outside the gate for a while).

Only areas I'd be worried about would be further away from Marlboro station and Centurion parking (I've heard some stories about the "overflow" parking).

Very safe. Just make sure to keep left on the escalators as people will pass you on the right. Some random lady shouted at me for just standing on the escalator and not walking on it as well. WTF this isn't New York you old cow.

LOL, also, the Sandton station escalators are probably the fastest escalators in the whole country for some reason. Watch your step.
