How stable is Openbrowse nowadays?

Can any current user comment on the topic? Normal browsing speed and weekend download speed?

I had searched the forum but there's no recent positive comments?
 
Hey there, i've been using openbrowse 512k now for 3 months and all i can say is that its perfect. In all this time it was down once, that was when there was a hectic thunderstorm and the place where the servers are held got struck by lightning (it was only down for about 2hrs).

The browsing speed difference between w/e and weekdays dont differ greatly. Downloads i max out at 52kbs using DAP so it utilizes the speed to the max. I think this is a great product i mean 30gb cap with international for R260 odd bucks is great.
 
Thanks, I had purchased one for a month to give it a try last night.

Problem with registration (I have the same problem with WebAfrica):
Openweb's password field for client login does not allow special characters, but they did not put a restriction/verification check so if you selected a password with characters like "&", you can register with no problem but you won't be able to login. (Had the same problem with WebAfrica).

I emailed admin@openweb as suggested in the FAQ for the openbrowse login details, together in that email I also requested them to reset my password, I got a reply with the new password but still no openbrowse login details.

Poffle, what else can you do besides browsing? Can you update your antivirus software at all or only during weekend's opentime? Thanks.
 
I was never given the option to login to the client area, wasnt given a username or password so i cant really help you there.

For the openbrowse login details specifically, i was emailed username and pass and it worked fine no prob, i think its a universal username and password but I'm not 100% sure.

Well they say opentime is only available on weekends but mine seems to update my anti-virus (might have to set proxy options in the AV) and i can download any day of the week but only http. If you download make sure u use a download manager. I tried with firefox standard and my downloads would stop at random places but with DAP it downloads the entire file no probs.

They said the openbrowse login details are usually not the same as your ADSL login.

Which antivirus are you using? From what I understand you can update antivirus during week days? Any specific proxy are you using or is it provided by Openweb, I see they suggested HTTP tunnel.

BTW IS Primary DNS 168.210.2.2 server is down at the moment.
 
Yeah you right, the login details for openrouter is different to the dial up. Im using Avast atm and it updates fine anytime. Well openweb say you download openrouter from their site. You then login and it has automatic options to set up your browser but the proxy you use is localhost (127.0.0.1) and yes it is a HTTP proxy
