50,000 x 3Gb users = 150,000Gb
Once the pool has reached 70% utilization(or X%) then all those that have gone over there cap is hardcapped.
Not all users use there full cap per month. That means over a large user base they still show profit(BIG Time!).

Now that will happen with each account size as to overcome that one account size that might go over it's allocated usage.

Smaller ISP's will not be able to implement this as it is to risky as you will need the bulk volume of users verses bandwidth usage to show profit.
So in this way they(Telkom/SAIX) have captured the market and have left there present resellers at the mercy of cutting prices and run the risk of going under.
But all the money that there resellers have spent have helped in making the public aware and the benefits of ADSL etc!

Remember the good old day's of 30Gb at R349.00 and lower? Well that was good marketing for Telkom/SAIX without the need to advertise. Well that was a long term plan to research the network capacity and calculate the average users bandwidth usage.

I miss the day's when AYCE and Axxess brought us these good prices :(

Good luck to South African ADSL ISP's. Telkom/SAIX has you by the ball's for the next few years!

Hopefully, they will give better caps soon?? or maybe be more leniant..

And maybe Icasa will actually start to do something one of these days?
Maybe Ivy will wake up, say no to donuts and do something constructive
or (and this is the most likely to happen scenario) flying pigs will put on an impromptu airshow when SA wins the 2010 world cup

2morrow we see what icasa plan on doing. right now though pgis flying and SA wining the nxt world cup are more possible than ivy doing somethng with immediate effect on pricing.
