How the Gautrain route will get Vodacom coverage

This really seems like a solution looking for a problem. You probably spend max 10 min underground when on the Gautrain. Is it really that essential that you have cellphone coverage?

Citation on your max 10 mins please.
Park Station to Marlboro is closer to 20 mins.
Do this every day, that is 3 hours a week.
That is a lot of work that I can do, emails, reading the news, been productive. It is not so much the time but the productive nature to use the time. In terms of calls. I have missed a train more than once on a support call and not able to catch a train. Will change the way I use the train.

For stations I think it's worth it.. Curious why they didn't, by design lay fibre along the way in tunnels for doing some kind of base station which repeats on board?

I'm hoping they have chosen a multi network solution but probably not so bleh.. Each network needs to add a fin and radio equip? Sucky solution as then u will get radiated once all networks add their equipment.

#waits for people to complain about radiation hahahahahaahahahaha

You travel the route daily?

Getting Vodacom and MTN on the train underground at the stations, both LTE, full signal strength.

Places like Hong Kong you get full LTE while on the subway, regardless where you are and what speed the train is doing.

It's good that they are implementing this on our trains too.

i travelled from midrand to hatfield and back for like 2 years. now that i dont travel on gautrain its fixed

the constant disconnect was annoying but im happy something is done about it.

The tunnels were also a problem when travelling to the airport, i am normally late and check in online if i see i wont make the self help checkin hahahaha win win win win win win thanks Vodacom

Centurion to Sandton you get reception less than half the route & without coverage you actually have to look at your fellow travellers.

Not that I use the Gautrain regularly but surely this is the miracle we've been waiting for!
