How to backup Android SD card?

My 8gig SD card is filled to the rim and need to clone data to a new 16gig SD. I tried Ctrl+ A and copying all files to PC (including hidden files) but fails. Some files dont want to copy.
 
Do you try it when it is in your phone or are you using a card reader?

Worked for me with a card reader...
 
Do you need the ones that doesn't want to copy? Only copy the needed files, like game data, photos, videos etc. The rest Android should sort out by itself.
 
I tried copying using a using my laptops build in SD card slot. I'll try just copying the game data and see how it goes
