Hi all, My Mother in law have a problem with her sons. She uses her phone to connect to the internet, but when her sons come to visit, they use their phones, to connect on her pc. And then go to the worst porn sites there maybe are. And download crap, leaving her pc with virusses and nonsens. But she dont have the guts to stop them. How can I block them, so that they cant use their phones as modems on her pc? Or what sollution is there, other than blocking them by passwords, cause then they will just ask for the password, and then the same problem goes on. Pls help?

This is a tough one. There is software available out there that can do something like this, but they can all be easily be bypassed if she is willing to give them the password for her system like that. The solution I would recommend is to redirect all sites using the hosts file to like google.com . Then to only allow certain sites access. This would be a more "silent" solution as there wont be any software running that would be clearly blocking sites. Otherwise you can be evil...Disable the hardware in the device manager or "corrupt" the settings and "break" the DVD rom so that they cannot load the drivers again. That is to say that they use another phone than as what she uses.

Otherwise, give her a seriously restricted plain non-admin account. You should be able to block any sort of installations to run like this.

Thanks, I will try that, but tell me, isn't there a way how I can allow only her phone(modem) on this pc? So that not any other phone will be able to connect on her pc to the internet?

another way would be to add some fake proxy settings in the web browser

So is the real problem the viruses/spyware or the fact that they browse those sites?

If it's the former, get a decent firewall installed there.

If it's the latter, install something like NetNanny to block those nasty sites...

Or for both, get Kasperskye internet security for her pc, can download from news server, torrents or even buy full version from matrix warehouse...

It detects viruses, spyware etc etc and it has a child protection option which blocks access of adult sites. Just remember to set it up properly and everything if u gonna use it :)

Thanks for all, I will try netnanny. So there's no way how I can set one modem to be the only one to be used on a pc?

Only if she permanently uses a non-admin account...

And she doesn't give the admin account password to her sons.
