My dad keep getting calls from different numbers, cant tell if its from vodacom or mtn. Then when he answers, the line goes dead. He gets it like 10 times a day, from different numbers. We called the numbers from different phones too, but then it sounds like the call is answered, and then it goes dead. I was thinking maybe it's like a computer or something that phones the wrong number over and over again.

I phoned mtn today and they told me they cant do any thing. Now what?

You can request a sim swap.....

You still keep the number but will eliminate any sim errors....

Similar happened to me a few years ago.

Sim swap = keep number with new sim

I think the point is that the dropped calls might be due to a sim error.Replace the sim, sort the error.

Okay i hear what you say, but its still just this numbers we dont know, all the normal calls go through. I dont think this is the problem.

Record the numbers, dates and times. Visit police station, get affidavit stating that you are being harassed. Open a case. Visit MTN state you have an affidavit as well as an open case against the person/entity that is harassing you and you need to have the number's source revealed. This will be provided to the detective working on your case. May take upto a month. Good luck.

I have similar issue , but the number dialed from does not show on my phone. Says private number. When i answer it it goes dead. This happens at least 2-3 time a day every day and different times of the day. I even got someone else to answer my phone in Zulu thinking this might entice a different response , still no luck.

You make it sound so easy.

OP, if your dad uses a cheap Nokia or a Samsung you might be able to block/screen a number.
