How to boost your Mobile internet speed!

I went on the internet and found this little vid with a very interesting way to boost your 3g speed with a pot.

I also know that attaching a USB extention to a 3g stick an looking for the best spot(usually close to a window) works.

Any ideas on other 'cool' and 'COST EFFECTIVE' ways to boost 3g stick connection speed?

I have tried the pot/pot lid method, and it only made it worse.

I still need to try the single core wires. What exactly are single core wires and where do we find them?
