Hi All

I have had it with openweb. I tried to stop get them to remove my debit order facility, and they said they wont. So basically they are trying to get me to stick with them forever. Is this not fraud? I emailed them back and told them to now cancel my account cause I am sick of their ****.

You do know that you can stop the order yourself?

yeah, I know. I sent them a email, cause I just wanted to drop the debit order cause Iam in the process of changing banks. They replied and said they wont do it. I then replied and told them to shove their ****ty expensive account.

Not on a debit order, you have to ask the Company Debiting your account (Openweb), to cancel the debit order.

If it was a Stop order, then you could of asked the bank to cancel it.

See this article for an explanation of a debit order and a stop order

False. You can instruct the bank to stop the debit order. However that might cost you depending on which bank it is. It's fraud for anyone to take money off of your account that you do not consent to. If you can prove you had an email exchange for wishing to stop the debit order run on your account with them, the bank has to oblige even when the company fully ignores your request to stop the debit order.

It's fraud when they continue without your consent. (And it's easy to do, all you need is an account number really and you can debit anything from anyone's account)

To the OP: Did you fax them through a signed letter of consent with your ID? If not, you can just let them know that if they take money off of your account with a debit order again, you will go to the police and open a case of fraud because you did try to amicably resolve the issue and they plainly refused.

Openweb reminds me of ABSA, wanted to close my (unused for several years but paid for in card fees) credit card. No debt on the credit card at all, it has a meager R1000 limit on it. They refused to close my account????! Several weeks, several fights and a REGIONAL MANAGER later, the account got closed...

Wtfudge? Why won't they cancel it? Are you on a contract with them? This is the exact reason why I will never use debit orders to pay for anything in my life.

And this might also be a reason to never use openweb again too
