I have a contract fastlink modem on contract but no service. When I first got this it was super fast, but now for the past 4 months it peters out after half an hour until "Connection Timed out" and no more service.
I then have to use my cellphone as a modem and it works fine but very slow.
Also the cellphone will not connect to MTN GPRS but only if I restart my Motorola connection and redetect the phone and connect via the phone dashboard.
If MTN cannot supply what I paid for, how do I cancel my contract?

I think I should do so. The helpdesk is helpless.

Well, don't forget that you signed on the dotted lines without reading the fine print. That is what my legal adviser told me when I tried to get out of a 36 months vehicle tracking contract.

Hellopeter.com is your best bet. Adawise, there is new ICASA legislation coming out on August 17 to shorten the lifespan of contracts. This will however not work affect contracts which are in force already.

There is also the proposed consumer protection bill coming through sometime next year. That bill will be great because it will allow for a 30 day notice period to cancel a contract. Now nothing beats that.

Maybe its an issue with the data card? If you handset as a modem works fine but not the data card in the same location then it does point towards a device issue and not a network one?

Anything about this yet

The legislation ICASA regulations were not enacted because Vodacom ran to the courts to cry foul. Aparently except for being anti-competitive and all of that, they were not given sufficient time to prepare for the implementation.

The delaying tactics we have seen in politics are now being applied in the telecomms as well.
