Hi

I am trying to cancel the "divert when busy" on my cellphone but everytime it defaults back to voicemail diversion.
This also happens when u try to cancel any other type of divert.

What I want is to reject a caller with a busy tone and not let it go on VM.

It seems u just cannot get away from a caller reaching your voicemail on an MTN phone

I have even tried the ussd commands as shown on the mtnsp website but to no avail as shown here: http://www.mtnsp.co.za/Personal/Services/standard/calldivert.aspx?pid=74
Why have it on the website if it does not work!

Please advise.

P.S This works well on Vodacom.

So you want the busy divert to "not" go to VM but rather just end the call?
Do you want the other diverts to work as normal i.e. When the handset is off or there is no coverage, it must divert to VM.
If so, PM me the number and I shall fix it.

Yes that's right......only when u press the red hangup button the call must end with a busy tone.

The rest must divert to voicemail as normal

I will PM u my cell no.

P.S Why can the individual user not set this up??
I have ported from vodacom & with them it was fully customisable

What happened to u Dr_Data?.......I've PM'ed u my cell number...no change yet

I personally think is that they want every caller to your MTN cellphone to incur a charge whether u answer the call or it goes to voicemail....cheeky

Your issue should be resolved now. I have fixed it. Apologies for the delayed response.

Anyone else need help with this?

@Dr. Data: Is it possible to send calls from private numbers straight to voicemail?

Hi
Unfortunately we dont have this feature on the network as yet. But I think there are some handsets that would support this. I will speak to the people at Voicemail support to see if there are plans to add this filter in anytime soon. I will keep you posted.
Regards
DD

Hi Dr_Data

Is it possible for my voicemail to be cancelled completely? In the 8 years I've been with MTN I've been able to make out the messages left for me only a handful of times. I just don't want a voicemail box at all. If I'm unreachable for whatever reason, you can call me some other time. :p

Cancelling my voicemail before overseas travel on Mtn

Hi

Please can anyone help, I need to cancel my voicemail before I go overseas..I'm on MTN

Thanks.

Hi, also havin' the same problem. Can't cancel VM diverts. Tried phoning 808, but no joy. I could change it previously. Had a dual sim, cancelled it and since then I can't cancel VM. Hope someone can help us. Thanks

Hi

PM me your number and I can help. Make sure you specify if you want all diverts to VM cancelled or specific ones like no coverage or busy etc...

I still would like to know why MTN customers can't cancel VM on our own- it seems very dumb!

problems with MTN voicemail cancellations when travelling overseas

Hi, also havin' the same problem. Can't cancel VM diverts. Tried phoning 808, but no joy. I could change it previously. Had a dual sim, cancelled it and since then I can't cancel VM. Hope someone can help us. Thanks

This has been a big frustration for me since moving to MTN from Vodacom. With Vodacom it was as simple as dialling ##002# and ALL voicemails were cancelled. Easy and quick to do just before flying out of SA. With MTN the above code does NOT work. Also manually cancelling all diverts (busy, unreached, not avaiable etc. etc.) on my phone does NOT work.

Every time I go overseas I have to sit in that aweful 808 queue to have my voicemail service completely removed. When I get back from overseas I have to do it all over again  And then of course, all your greetings/settings are lost so you have to set that up again.

And it's not just me, my 2 other colleagues on MTN in my office have the same problem when they travel. Last time my one colleague phoned 808 at the gate of OR Tambo to have his voicemail removed but somehow the operator stuffed up. So my colleague had to cough up for tromboning when he got back.

Hi

drop me a PM and Ill explain how you can do this yourself without calling the contact centers...
