Has anyone successfully done this? Their WhatsApp chat bot has no option for this, and my online customer portal also doesn't have a section on cancelling services.
Their human agents deliberately let the chat idle so it can automatically end the conversations.

I'd also like to return their router back to them and move on with my life.
#Edit: fibre line

If you're in JHB, they have an office near Benmore where you can physically defecate on their desks.
You only have till February 2023 (https://mybroadband.co.za/news/business/443296-webafrica-closing-its-offices.html), after that they are closing their offices. But if you did struggle with the webafrica support, you can always report them to the ISPA (see https://ispa.org.za/code-of-conduct/ section D.6). They might have gotten a fine recently for not having their email address on their contact us page. ;)

Thanks a bunch for all the replies! After a level of incompetence only rivaling that of our government, someone on their team finally figured out that nobody had bothered to initiate or register (whatever the term is) my fibre. So Vuma has it shown as an existing installation but not activated. All the tech support, rebooting the router, blaming my previous ISP and everything else were a waste of time.

3 weeks ago I was on their WhatsApp chat support line 8 hours without assistance (from 8am till around 2pm). They are really understaffed and have technicians who mostly guess what the problem is when you're offline. A dozen tickets later I had enough and am moving on. Can't recommend WebAfrica at all. I admit I'm an idiot for not bothering to do a web search on them before changing ISPs. I saw R549 per month for 20mbps/5mb up and wanted to save on my R799/month Afrihost price.

I talked to a former VumaTel employee who told me that the ISP was irrelevant and the fibre provider was the most important aspect about FTTH. Useless WebAfrica proved that is not true.

I really want to report them. They took my money and didn't deliver the service promised. Not a byte of data was sent through my devices during my moment of madness. I've had to buy prepaid data bundles just to get by.

webafrica is definitely the "Telkom" of ISPs. These maaders really don't care. It virtually impossible to cancel. I have been trying via whatsapp and no sooner you mention cancel service they ignore you. Also ludicrous not to have an email address anywhere on theirwebsite. Also comments switched of on instargram and FB.

I pray for a huge fine from ISPA. I am going to report them and encourage everyone having issues with these maaders to do so as well.

Anyone know what they charge if you lost the boxes to your router? Not so much lost as I put them away and then they got thrown out. So, I want to cancel as well, but don't want to cancel if they charge me R1000 of the boxes.

Cut your losses buddy. They not worth the R1000

Yay - managed to get my service cancelled. Part of your cancellation should be to log a mediation is ispa.org.za

If you fail to do so, you will be billed R999 (for the Zyxel Fibre router), R499 (for all other Fibre routers) and/or R1999 (for LTE) at the end of that month. We will send you a few more reminders before then.
no mention made of the packaging

They have some serious issues.

This is ongoing.

This is but one of many examples I have:

Potential victims swayed by WA's sell-side marketing should refer to Thor's thread where I made a compendium of the horrorshow documented on this forum:

More malfeasance in that case. They used to at least have a button to do this on the portal.

Sorry to hear mate.
