Hey Guys

After being fed up with Sentech's service and slow speeds i decided to go the ADSL route.....

Got my contract and free modem sorted within 3 days, i chose the self install option but im having some trouble.....

Can i connect the router to my pc without having to use the ethernet cable?
There is no option in the quick start wizard install for this, it demands ip settings from my local ethernet connection

Will i have to use the ethernet port on just one pc or can i do it all wireless??

The router is the 800VGT

Any help will be appreciated, need to get the ADSL up as soon as is possible

Thanks in advance

My advice would be to connect an Ethernet cable to it and access the router to configure it. You can't access it via wifi if you haven't configured any wifi settings on it ;)

HAHA thanks man didn't even think about it that way

Will try it out

Thanks for the quick response

Ok thanks guys i got that part sorted and my wireless network is up and running and healthy

But now my next problem, the cd that comes with the router..........when i run the setup wizard on it, it won't let me select my wireless network card as an option during install.........i can only select my ethernet card

Any way around this or maybe a patch

I tried setting up a connection manually without the wizard.........it dials thru and accepts my username and password but once connected i still can't browse...i've got an account with Openweb btw.....

So close to having my ADSL connection, pls help me out guys

much appreciated

which Billion do you have?

did you configure wireless security for the router?
did you configure dhcp for the router?
did you configure rip on the router

they all easy to do, pm me and I'll give you my cell and help you

other than that plug the network cable into the first port, no 1, then give yourself a static ip of 192.168.1.1, the router is 192.168.1.254, the gateway is 192.168.1.254 and netmask 255.255.255.0

then you can config the rest of the wireless settings.

Unfortunately you cannot choose the wireless card during the installation. The "Setup Network Card" button allows you to choose another network card that you have installed and you know that is in use. Connect the Ethernet cable on both PC and router, do not choose go to "Setup Network Card" and continue with the installation. When you completed with your installation that is when you can connect to the router using wireless connectivity.
