How to connect my chassis fan ?

Please can anyone help, i don't want to blow my motherboard.

I have attached the pictures of my pinout according to asus.

Is the deepcool cooler plugged in correctly or not ?

Is the white striped wire on the deepcool fan positive or negative and is it plugged in correctly ?

It has a marker. look at the shape of the plug.

This will prevent you from plugging it in the wrong way. Don't force it.

It is unlikely you will blow your motherboard plugging it in the wrong way.. not that you could plug it in the wrong way due to the design of the plug like the others pointed out unless you force it and if you did, the fan would just end up spinning the other direction..

Both my mobos have the fan port labelled as sys_fan, at the bottom of the board. Could you give the model of the board? Would be able to indicate the correct port.

Thanks everyone, yes it is keyed, so is the fan wire plug, but the reason i am so worried is that back in 2011, i also bought a new asus motherboard, and by chance i bought a deepcool fan that looked exactly, and i mean exactly like this one, the wires on that cooler was silver, now the thing is, when i plugged it into the motheboard, the motherboard blew, i could never use the board again. So did they update the wires on the new deepcool coolers for correct polarity when keyd with the motheboard's pins ?

The board does show sys fan underneath that plug, there is 2 one for a cooler and one for a water cooler, i'm guessing the watercooler plug can handle more amps.

Ok i plugged it in and it works, so glad seems like the wires have been updated.

Can i plug in a second chassis fan into the water pump header ? Will it over power the chassis fan ? It is also a deepcool one exact same as in my above post picture. Or is it better to power a second fan directly from the PSU (which i can do the fan has got a psu plug too)
