Hello everyone,

What would be the cheapest way to convert a USB printer to a wireless printer?

Thanks

alternatively if the usb printer is networkable & you have a wifi network running, you can connect the printer via cable & print via the network.

You get hardware print servers (embedded devices) with built in wireless and also I see routers come with USB ports to also connect to printers to offer print sharing.

He could get a printserver but could be cheaper to replace his current printer. He would have to look at the price of the 2 & then decide.
Typically printservers are not cheap(not the last time I looked).

(on cell can't follow your link)

The HP wireless printers works well. Another option is an wireless base with a USB - Printer connector. I know Apple's Airport has one, but paying R700 to get this function is maybe a bit steep.

Printservers are normally in exxess of R2k, so that is most probably the cheaper option

The D-LINK Print Servers are around R600 to R800.. and for the 1 port Parallel port is even cheaper..

If you just have 1 usb printer, go for the D-LINK DPR-1020 print server, quite easy to setup and will even work with MFP printers, so you can also scan over the network... This model doesn't have wireless, but if you have an existing Wireless, simply connect the print server to the wireless router via cable and then you can access it on any pc connected to the wireless network...

If you have more than 1 printer you can go for the D-LINK DPR-1061 print server, it has 2 usb ports as well as a single parallel port, (the dpr-1061 also doesnt have wireless but you can use the same method as above)
