I cant dance for ****. I have a wide circle of friends and often come up with an excuses not to go out because I feel like a douche bag in clubs. Any ideas/advice?

I don't know how to dance...I just get pissed and jump around...then again I only jam to hard house :p

1. Open the door

2. Get on the floor

3. Everybody walk the dinosaur!

Just dance. You'll get better. And if you don't its still better than not having a social life.

Look what everyone else is doing...repeat...

except if you are in some sakkie jol...then RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN

Many people who can't dance go to clubs and dance anyway. If you still don't feel comfortable, just chill on a couch with some drinks, and just enjoy the music. Even if you only like the music, then that's more than enough reason to go to a club. Anyway, if you don't like dancing then ask your buddies to rather go to pool/bar clubs. There are pool tables so you can chill, drink and play pool while your friends hit the dance floor.

Im pissed off that TRUTH increased the entrance price...I mean R70 just to go in...all I can say is car bar. :)

youtube is your new friend after google. There will probably be some instructional dance clips on youtube.

If you can feel the music, just dance and wing it ;) :D :p There's no real instructions needed IMHO. :p

Yebo. All you need is rhythm - the ability to find/feel the main BEAT in a song and move your body in sync with the beat, be it head-nodding, foot-tapping, or jumping with your hands in the air. Rhythm is NOT dancing to the LYRICS, but dancing to the BEAT. If you can't feel the beat, you can't dance. So your first step is learning to FEEL the beat.

You talking dance like these guys think or dance like langarm? Have to agree with them, it's really not that hard to just stand around and move to the music. A couple of drinks will help for sure. To learn to langarm you need to find a female friend to help.

That's the probably the most important part. Once you get that beat you can learn to rather dance from side to side then up and down. So move your hips left and right on the beat of the music. It will feel weird in the beginning so practice at home until you get it.

Don't tell my dad that :(

Get drunk and watch your body take control....hahaha

Just find the beat is all. You dont need to have fancy footwork or amazing arm movements to dance. Sure it can look cool, but honestly most women are far more attracted to a guy that they see can dance to a rythm than a wild guy that has no rythm.
The step..tap..step..tap usually works well to get you chillin. Hold a drink in your hand, stand in the circle with your friends and just step..tap with your feet to the beat. As the confidence builds, take a chance or 2 on doing something with your shoulders and hips just for a few seconds, a full beat cycle or 2. As you get more comfortable simply add some shoulder and hip movements into your standard dancing. The fancy feet and fancy arm movements are not needed to look good on the dancefloor. Good strong obvious rythm at the feet, combined with adding rythm to the shoulders and hips is all you need. As others have said, watch your friends and copy. If they do fancy things, dont try it yet, juts copy the base rythm movements that they do.

If you have trouble finding the beat, just listen for the 4 beat cycle. Almost all dance songs are 4 beat. You should be able to pick out 1. It usually gets accentuated slightly, like: BOOM Boom boom boom BOOM boom boom boom BOOM, etc...
Always make sure your body hits that number 1 with whatever movement you are doing. Foot lands on 1 etc... If you do that, you will be rocking the dancefloor in no time. You also dont need to hit on every beat. Only the first beat is the one that counts rythmically. THe faster you want to dance, the more of the actual beats you hit with a movement. The more chilled the dancing, the less beats. 1 and 3 is the most chilled you will get without looking too slow.

As long as you dont have friends that will laugh at you for trying, there is no harm done. If you do have friends that will laught at you. Find new friends.

Stomp your feet like you are walking on the spot, try to land each step to the beat. The higher your knees the better. While doing this cut imaginary shapes in the air with your hands in the judo chop position. I like to start out with animals/the alphabet, do this very fast. This works for any genre of music.
