How to downgrade Windows 7 pro to Windows Premium

How to downgrade Windows 7 pro to Windows 7 Premium

Someone borrowed my laptop for few days. I got it bak but now as i was surfing the internet suddenly a Microsoft box pop up saying the key i have entered is invalid please enter a valid Windows product key.I check on windows upgrade and it really says i am using Windows 7 Professional but it needs a key. I have bought the laptop with Windows 7 home Premium and i have the key. I would be happy if i can downgrade without doing a clean install as to avoid losing all the upgrades and installed programes. i really dont know why someone could decide to upgrade a laptop wich is not his without the owner's consent:mad:

seems from what I can read you can only do so if you have a legal copy of pro.
 
From my understanding it cannot be done. Will need a full new install.

Apparently i had microsoft office 2007 trial installed and the trial was over so he got a key from a friend of his friend and he tried to register... i guess you now know where he entered the key lol
