Does anyone know who I can contact or if there's a link that shows all exchanges and when they've been scheduled to be upgraded (assuming there's a schedule..)?

We're on 4mbps at the moment and really looking forward to upgrading to 10mbps with MWEB, the Telkom link that you can use to check if your exchange supports 10mbps or not confirm that our exchange only supports 4mbps..

Is there a way through some website of running a test to see what speed the exchange supports or is that only something that Telkom & ISP's can check?

Cheers!

The best way is to just phone Telkom and ask them to upgrade your line, if you get somebody competent on the other side then they will let you know if your line can be upgraded or not.

Thanks, I did check out broadbandstats.co.za which confirm that our exchange only supports up to 4mbps. I've also called Telkom and can neither find out if/when the exchange is scheduled for an upgrade nor if it'll be upgraded at all.

I guess this is s stupid question but, is it possible to submit a request to Telkom to upgrade the exchange?

Cheers!

I'm in the Margate area. Spoke with someone that knows a Telkom technician that said that the exchange should be upgraded soon but he's not sure when..

Can someone please explain the following image:

The exchange is 10Mbps enabled but only 4Mpbs max speed?!?

On another note, I think the checker is giving me the wrong exchange.
My line is on 012 653 (Rooihuiskraal North) and there are about 8 others between my house and Hennopspark exchange, and even more around that are closer. Can't see how I could be connected to a exchange 8km+ away when there are so many closer by.

why not moving away from ADSL and have a look at fibre broadband, not down as much as ADSL, we offer a 99.5% guarantee on up-time. i work for a company called CipherWave, we are a tier 1 ISP with a tier 3 data center, we offer a broad spectrum of products but focusing on Fibre Broadband, if you are interested, call me on 072 674 7749

Please stop trolling , in general people who use ADSL cant afford your product and you don't have a decent coverage footprint.

You mean 3016 surely?

Apparently Telkom is busy upgrading the small town to Metro Ethernet, we've had a lot of congestion the past few months. Spoke to a technician and says the ME will be lit in this week or so. So I hope it's the truth.

What,s a distribution point in telkom terms?

In this diagram the distribution point will be between the SDC and the customer's premises...

DM me your ADSL line number and I'll query Uniweb. None of the methods listed above are accurate - when I do checkadsl on Telkom's site it says I have 4Mbps.. But I'm on 10Mbps and ordered 40Mbps this morning.

Please can you do the same for me super speed? I'm stuck on 2300kbps /: really horrible! I'm in a VDSL area though? I'll PM you my number :D

Looks like they updated the DSL Cheker website database, for the first time it tells me that my maximum speed cannot be determined. Always used to say 4Mbit.

apparently they're out of money, so they cannot continue with upgrades in my area. What a shame sies!
