How to get contacts from WP8 to PC?

Please help guys - I want to backup contacts on a Nokia Lumia 520 on Windows Phone 8 to PC/Laptop on Win 7. Ultimate aim is to get the contacts on to an iPhone.

All sources suggest that contacts are automatically synced to Windows Live but when I check the relevant Live account from a PC, the contacts are not there. The phone is signed in to Windows Live, I can download apps from the store.

Log into your Windows Live email account. Click on Outlook and you'll see Contacts. All your contacts should be there . If you are still having issues, let me know and I'll post screen shots.
 
I've done the Outlook thing, checked Contacts and I only see 3 contacts - there should be hundreds. I've even tried synching the phone to a Google account, it tells me it's synching but when I check the Google account the contacts are not there.

I have to assume that the phone, for whatever reason, is not sending the contacts. Baffled.
 
Are you sure they weren't syncing to a different account? Check one of the contacts not showing up in outlook for where its synced, just to sure.

I'm pretty sure the account details are correct, both for Windows Live and for Google accounts. Yet the contacts don't appear on either account. I take it you cannot change the Windows Live account details on the phone itself after the initial setup? If I could change those details I can try syncing the contacts to a different Windows Live account.
 
OK thanks SammyD. I guess I'm just surprised that I cannot move data from one Window device to another Windows device without a major battle. If it was cross-platform I'd expect a few hoops.

Haha yes I think you have a point. Must say I remain well impressed with that phone - Lumia 520, used vigorously for 2 years and never missed a beat.
