How to get internet over wifi when only option is PPOE?

Got an HTC Wildfire... found out it eats data for breakfast lunch and supper!

yet I can't connect get internet over my wifi because I have a locked nashua router, (and WTF would I use nashua anymore :sick: ) if I want to connect with a PC, I dial a connection with PPPOE, yet android can't do that! :cry: (AFAIK) is there anyway to get my wildfire to use the adsl internet?

first set wifi password on router(done in PPPOE)on pc make sure wireless is on on both router & phone
search for wifi devices
select your device (router)
enter password


& then you use your cell over wifi


i posted this on my nokia over wifi/ADSL
 
you going to have to set the router to dial the pppoe connection , then use it as your default gateway on your pc and as your phones ap . i dont know what you mean by its locked(iam guesing you cant get to the admin interface web page) that might make things rather hard :P there is a reset button to flash the nvram , and then you can look up the default password , normally admin 12345 , or admin admin or somthing stupid like that

cell connects fine to the wifi, but there is no internet from the router

router is locked to nashua mobile ISP acounts, it needs to be flashed by corrupting the currant firmware so I can recover with the proper Billion firmware.
 
let me get this staright, nashua gives wifi routers that have the wifi functionality disabled?
 
i wonder......

Does your router auto assign IP addresses or is it fixed IPs

but yeah if they locked you outa wifi net then it must be fixable.

Have you asked them about it?

no, wifi is available, the router is locked to only use nashuaisp.co.za accounts
 
Argh, I'm having the same problem. I have it set up that the router dials the pppoe connection and then everything works like it should, but I have multiple adsl accounts and switch between them quite often, so I would prefer the router bridge-mode method if it was possible. Is there really NO way to dial up a pppoe connection from and Android phone?
 
Jeez Tpex...seriously difficult to follow you there.

Your best bet is to add an AP to your PC to share the PPPoE from there.
 
What router did you get ? I am on my 2nd year of Nashua as ISP ,and I have had 2 Billion locked routers , with wifi enabled. In fact when I renewed they sent the 1st router for unlocking.
AFAIK the locking only limits the ISP login to [email protected].

A R5200G4, but we have dropped Nashua now, and have gone with SAOL
 
I can't understand how anyone would go with any ISP with a locked router policy. Very strange. Is/was as bad as networked locked cellphones. Oh wait, NM can't lock cellphones anymore... so they do it to the routers instead. That figures.

cheapest ADSL + router deal.....
