How to implement tech in South African schools

President Cyril Ramaphosa has taken an aggressive stance on tech in schools, saying that he wants coding to be a compulsory subject.

Ramaphosa has also said that within the next 6 years, he wants every school child to have a tablet for academic use.

Being able to read and write is a requirement for coding. Get that sorted first.

Going to school at all is an even bigger challenge.
As far as tablets go even more stuff to steal as well as over inflated tenders being awarded.
Private funding always seems to be the governments answer to everything.
Private companies then should be in control of who gets the tenders etc.
Pen and paper worked for the last 100 years.
Why change.

Well on the bright side Mr. Grumples, at least they're just stealing a Pi and monitor worth R2k instead of R12k+ machine.

And we have classrooms with PCs already so what is the difference? Bolt the monitors to the table, attach Pi with VESA case.

Agreed. Also a cyber security policy backed by effective cyber crime laws that are actually enforced. Without it, each school kid's details will soon be for sale on the dark web.

Best way to implement tech would be some sort of robot that moers the students.

Wish they would start with Mathematics, if ya can't math, ya can't code. Forget understanding data structures and types if you can't speak the language. Even something as simple as react requires a decent grasp of abstract concepts like events, contexts and proxies.
