I have QuickBooks 2008 Pro, it's part of a package that ABSA small business provides.

I'm trying to import my downloaded CSV bank statements into QuickBooks but am not getting it right.

Does anyone know if you can import CSV bank statements into QuickBooks 2008 Pro and how exactly it is done?

:D

Yes there is... File --> Utilities --> Import --> Excel File/CSV

It asks you in there wat kind of import i.e. supplier invoice/ customers/ account

The closest I could work out would be Account, then you go on to mapping the fields in your Excel file to the fields necessary for the "Account" import type selected. Even though no error occurs during import it doesn't work. Also there is no field in the mapping for an amount :S surely you need a transaction amount :?

So I'm a bit stumped... Anyone got any ideas?

Hello Kalevra,

I work for QuickBooks South Africa and stumbbled on your post.

You can't import bank statements directly into QuickBooks. This feature only works with the banks in the UK.

We are launching a product next month that caters for the importing of SA bank Statements into QuickBooks.

I can't say to much more at this stage but keep visiting www.quickbooks.co.za and you will see when the product is available. More or Less towards the end of June 09.

Brilliant, thanks for letting me know, this has been a huge problem. How are people getting there bank statements into QB at the moment? I find it hard to believe it's all manual capture?? :/

Maybe you can explain why we pay a 67% premium to get Quickbooks here. The US price for the Pro version is $159.95 which works out at around R1300. The price here (ex VAT) is R2192.11. Thats why we have not upgraded.

Sorry for the late reply.

The USA versions of QuickBooks (intuit.com) are not compatible with the UK or SA VAT monetary Systems.

We distribute the UK Versions of QuickBooks (intuit.co.uk) as they are VAT compliant.

Therefore you need to check the pricing out on www.quickbooks.co.uk

You will then realize that we are actually cheaper.

Dear Abe...has the feature for downloading our local bank statements been created yet? I use quick books and Imsick of writing up bank statements.

Bump.

It is 2015 and the banks are still stuck in the 1920s - Absa eg. only allows like the last 150 odd transactions (or last few months) to be exported in a proper usable csv format. These can be imported into almost any accounting package these days, but what about all the transactions that falls outside of the above scope? Are there any other solution available beyond manually capturing the PDF statements?
