How to increase my Hunters DPS

Firstly, get rid of Gorehowl. The agi on it is nice, but you don't benefit at all from the strength. Also get your hit rating up to 142. That is the hit cap for Hunters.

A bit of information is required on your part. What latency do you raid at and what connection do you have?

Instead of Gorehowl, I would try get 2XBreeching Comets from Heroic Magisters Terrace, or even Trollbane from Zul'Aman

I know about gorehowl but it drop and it was better then what I had. Hoping Legacy from Kara but has not dropped yet. I have a cable connection and don't think Latency is a problem. Been working on my hit rating and hoping next gear item I get will bring it up to 142. Have not done ZA yet, my guild is only doing Kara and Gruuls right now.

I can't view your armoury from work, but from what I can read between the lines is that you are still early in Kara progress (no legacy yet), have not saved up badges yet for badge loot, prob don't have the best hunter pre raid trinkets yet (hourglass from CoT, and bloodlust badge trinket)?
Your getting 600-700dps, in what situations? specific boss fights or overall through a kara raid?
I would expect you to hit about 700-800dps easily during kara when just starting. To go higher than that you need to start look at loot from elsewhere.
1:1 shot rotation macro should be sufficient while still only having the early bows or xbows. Get gun from big bad wolf perhaps, till you can buy the badge one.
What pet are you using, and is it surviving eneugh...
 
Ok, try this out

Farm 150 BOJ for the Crossbow of Relentless Strikes (it's a lot I know, but it's so worth it in the end)

Run Heroic Magisters Terrace for two Breeching Comet axes. If money is not a problem enchant them with +20 Agility each and socket them both with +Hit gems

Try get your hands on this baby: Shoulders of Lightning Reflexes. (Yes I know it's a BOP BT LW drop, but any hunter in his right mind takes LW) It is currently the 3rd best shoulder for hunters and you don't even need to raid for it.

That Darkmoon Card Crusade is very situational and Trinkets such as Dragon Spine Trophy (Gruuls Lair) or even the Abacus of Violent Odds (Heroic Mechanar) would add AP and be more beneficial.

Now for the macro. I sit at normally 895 to 950 DPS on most boss fights using this macro:

MACRO 1:

#showtooltip Steady Shot
/console Sound_EnableSFX 0
/cast !Auto Shot
/cast Steady Shot
/click [target=pettarget,exists] MultiBarBottomLeftButton12
/console Sound_EnableSFX 1
/script UIErrorsFrame:Clear()

MACRO 2:

/castsequence reset=4 Kill Command, !Auto Shot, !Auto Shot, !Auto Shot

Now how this works is simple. You put the first macro into your spam/steady shot key and it works like a charm. You are a BM hunter so of course you want those Kill Commands to trigger so you also need to create a second macro for that.

The reason for two macros is simple. Lockup. I have not had my auto shots locked out even once with this macro.

MultiBarBottomLeftButton12

This indicates where to put the second macro. If you are using custom bars, then you will need to play around until you find the spot.

Do you have to be in SA to use this Forum? Found this forum doing searches from work (behind firewall) and it opened for me. I am in the US but good information is where you find it.

I was thinking about getting that crossbow from 150 BOJ anyway, think I will work towards that now. Thanks for the information on the macro, I will set that up tonight when I get home.

Don't think you need to be in South Africa :D But we tend to have a few special tricks to boost our dps due to the latency issues we have.
There is several different macros out there, and you will need to test them to find the best one for you. Recomend to read about BM hunter in elitist jerks forum. copy and paste some of the macros there and go test them out on Dr Boom.
Good luck with your dps testing.

Just be careful when using the macro above. Its called the manito modified 3:2 rotation macro.

Lots of little things which you need to know or you will end up with serious dps issues. Eg. things like its VERY VERY latency dependant, and requires very high FPS performance. Secondly and this is why I dont use it. Your pet. You have to be nuking the same target your pet is attacking or you will end up with other problems.

As for the badge bow... also discussed a lot in previous posts. Awesome bow if you dont have haste. But it gets worse when you start slapping haste on your hunter :rolleyes:

About haste, I have the bindings of Lighting Reflexes now with haste, will that matter if I trade my bow that was a drop from the Prince in Kara for the badge of justice one? Why would haste be bad for it? I have a Wind Serpent I have been using but I am in the process of training a Ravager, which works better for raiding do you think? Right now my shot is 1:1 (steady shot then autoshot goes off and then steady shot autoshot. But not really using a macro for that, just normally click steady shot and after I see the autoshot going off I click the steady shot again. Starting to put an Arcane shot in now and then from reading about using it in this forum.

Sorry for the late reply... weekend pub crawling things happening again :D

The reason haste is so bad for you if you have the badge bow, is... its all about the weapon speed. Your badge bow is pretty much designed to give people a good decent weapon which allows them to walk into BT / MH without having to farm Vashj + tier 5 content.

Now, the whole key behind the badge bow is the following. Your optimal DPS is achieved with a weapon speed of around the 2.04 - 2.07 range for a 3:2 rotation. Now, assuming you are BM with 5/5 SS, and have the quiver speed boost, it puts you right into the sweet spot bracket, with NO haste required. Haste starts having negative effects if you exceed a certain speed. Why ? Because your timings get tighter, the tighter your timings get, the more autoshots you clip. The more autoshots you clip, the less shots are fired.

Haste shows its true power when stacked with a 3.0 bow. As for pet... I prefer my ravager still, I made a post a while back about my personal findings with a wind serpent, it should be around here somewhere on the forums. I did some dps comparisons, and my ravager still came out tops... hence I still use him.

As for your bracers, I would say keep them, but keep a close eye on your weapon speed + dps. Bench your hunter with and without the bracers and see how your dps improves / drops. Personally I think if you only have the bracers with haste on, you should be fine. :rolleyes:

Care to share the few special tricks to overcome our latency issues???
My biggets problem is the FPS, never get above 6 and usually run at 4.... Cannot upgrade graphics card right now...
Any tips will be greatly appreciated,

With that kind of FPS you're screwed no matter what you do. All I can suggest is dropping all your graphics settings as low as possible.
 
3rd Weekend in a row i got lukcy with drops.

Get home Friday 4:30 - in /g, hi m8, we are at the last boss in mgt heroic, our one dps had to leave (the only non-guildie in the group), wanna come help, so i got, 2 mins later breeching comet drops, for 2 mins work of work i get 2 badges 1 breeching comet.

So i decided, think its time to drop legacy and go 2 handed for a while - saturday morning, do mgt heroic again, this time it took a bit longer, we got stuck at the 5 v 5 group, but we down every thing and guess what, breeching comet. Been to MGT Heroic twice, 2 breeching comets.

Having zero skill in axes i go to blasted lands, get up make breakfast, 45 mins later axes to 350.

Don't mention that Dagger.

I got my Hunter to 70 this weekend and I subbed him into our ZA run just for ZJ with the hopes of getting Bow/Trink/Helm/Jin'rohk.
Guess what Hexlord dropped?

Unfortunately at my gear and hp level I don't think i can sub in for Hex too at the moment but I've got a farming list I'll be working on outside of Raids to try get ZA ready.

Yeah, before i finished reading your post, i thought why'd you want Jin'rohk :p
Haste is a stat you can only work on once you've reached certain levels with your crit and rap.
