Got a cheap CellC sim card today. I want to see if I can get it working on my Vodacom modem so that I can go ahead and order the 60Gig bundle.
But I['m getting a please insert correct sim message atm with the vodafone software.

So where do I start? What software do I need etc?

Will try out that software you posted after I've gotten the new Sim Card. See if it's a bit more user friendly than what I just did.

I couldn't figure out how to connect via the default Vodafone software...

However I could connect by making a dial up connection on Windows 7.

Quick tutorial:

Part1:
a. Start -> Control Panel -> Network and Security -> Network and Sharing Center
b."Set up a new connection or network" -> "Set up a dial up connection"
c.
Dial Up Phone Number: *99***1#
Username: Leave Blank
Password: Leave Blank
Connection Name: CellC
d. Click connect, You'll probably get some unable to connect error, but choose "set up connection anyway." Continue to Part2

Part2
a. Start -> Control Panel -> Network and Security -> Network and Sharing Center
b. "Connect to a network" (A new window should popup, look for the CellC connection)
c. Right click on your CellC connection and select properties.
d. Click on the Networking tab on top
e. Select Internet protocol version4(TCP/IPv4) and click on properties.
f. Select "use the following DNS server Address" and enter the following:
Preferred DNS server: 41.157.9.4
Alternate DNS server: 41.157.9.5
g. Redo steps a and b, right click on your CellC connection , but choose "connect" this time around.

You should be connected.

The new sim cards seem to work with the Vodafone Software without any real problems unlike the old ones, just put in the CellC sim and it works.
If you do however experience problems with the "buggy" software like (disconnects/device keeps disappearing). Connect directly via windows, the connection is created automatically on your pc when the Vodafone software is installed.

1. Start -> Control Panel -> Network and Security -> Network and Sharing Center
2. Connect to a network
3. Choose "Vodafone Mobile Connect"
