How to make use of a Proxy server?

Hey I want to start using a free proxy server. How do I setup Firefox (3) to use a proxy server and where do I get the needed info?

Please don't put any international links here, I am on local.

Tools/Options/Advanced/Settings.

As for the free proxy - no one in their right mind would post one here even if they knew of a free one

OH ok thanx, but I thought there were many free proxy servers??? So if there aren't where can I get access to a proxy server, like subscribe or something?

No such thing as free. Some of these proxies are misconfigured servers so it lets users connect and surf through them for free but they soon get discovered and shut down - especially once the owner gets the bill for bandwidth used.

Otherwise sometimes some generous people also create free proxies but all shut them down soon after the whole world discovers they can surf through them.

Also remember that since its someone else's free proxy (ie untrusted) they could be capturing all your web passwords you use! I'd be very wary of using any 'free' proxy
