How to network unlock a Vodacom handset?

I bought a Samsung Galaxy Ace on Vodacom as it was the only network the store I bought it from had it on. Now I want to unlock it and be able to use any network provider on it. PLEASE HELP

It's illegal to lock any phone to a network in South Africa. Period.
 
Maybe he's referring to debranding the phone? @OP Does it not let you use another network sim card at all?

Vodacom have started selling some network locked phones. Mostly prepaid and they are cheaper. These are clearly marked in our dealsheets. Sales person should inform you of this before the sale is done.

As for unlocking it. Officially you need to take it to Vodacom repair centre and pay fee to have the lock removed.
