How to play .BOX or .BIX files

I am tearing my hair out here!! I've been given a DVR PC from one of my branches and my job is to extract the recordings so that they can be viewed. Now I've successfully extracted the video files but the problem is they're all in .BOX and .BIX format. I have no clue how to open these files! Even trusty VLC can't play them.

I searched with Google, DDG, but have had no luck [-]finding[/-] downloading software that does the job. On the DVR itself the files won't even open. I'm seriously stuck here. Have any of you guys dealt with these file formats before?

You can convert the .box file using the dvrnet software. Use the backup and then click the AVI option button. Automatically the file that is recorded in dvrnet as .box file, is converted into .avi

After all this time I managed to find a piece of software called SiraView that plays them exactly how we want them (multiple camera views with the same date stamp).
 
Hey Hungrybeaver, I have a Kodicom Security system DVR and need to view the recordings . The diginet software has crashed and I have found the .box and .bix files from the day I need. Are these recordings? How can I view the video ? I have tried downloading the SiraView as you said but it doesnt seem to open the files :/ Please help me
 
Those .bix and .box files are the audio and video recordings. I managed to get it to work but I tried a whole host of software live DVRnet and Diginet. Eventually I could save the videos as MPEG when the software opened the files. Give both of those a try and see if you come right!
