I did a lot of googling and called CIPC multiple times with no results. So here is what I've done and learned the hard way.
1- Register at http://www.cipc.co.za/ website. Fill in your information very carefully, since your interactions with CIPC from now on is only through this account
2- Deposit R50 (Name registration fee) in their bank account. (Use your account name in the website as reference number) you can find their banking detail on the website.
3- Choose one name, and three alternative names for your company.
4- There is a video tutorial in the Help section of the website watch it at least two times.
5- Log in the website and go to “additional services” menu. Search for your desired name; if you did not find any results it is most likely your desired name is available; otherwise, you have to choose another name.
6- Go to name reservation (Proposed Name) and fill in your details and your desired names.
7- Download the receipt and wait for CIPC to email you the confirmation of name registration (form CoR 9.4). (For me it took three days)
8- Log in in the website and go to “Companies” menu, navigate to “new companies”.
9- Fill in your details, for the name enter the tracking number you received on form CoR 9.4 and in the box under tracking number enter the name that is approved in the form.
10- Fill in the Incorporators and Directors details and after proof reading everything confirm.
11- Three forms get populated with your details, download and print them.
12- Sign the forms and either post or deliver them to CIPC office. You should deposit the registration fee to their bank account which is R125 before submitting your documents.

I'll post the rest of the process as I find out.

EDIT:
13- I went down to Pretoria myself and submitted the documents manually, but you can post them as well!
14- You wait in the queue for like half an hour and three more minutes at the counter and it's done!
15- Now you are a CEO!

Important notes:
You need certified copy of your ID book or Passport.
All the Documents should be printed, No handwritten stuff.
I had this problem that one of my forms wasn't pre-populated, so I had to edit the PDF file and type my information onto it and print it!

If anyone has a question, or needs help just PM me!

I did all of the above on January. I'm still waiting for them to process my application.

Dude!!! You should go to the office!
I just went there and handed in my documents and get everything done in less than an hour!

I will post the rest of the procedure soon!

Then you've done something horribly wrong. I register companies for friends and family quite often and I've never had to wait longer than say 3 weeks, from mailing them the signed documents to getting my registration certificate.

Just a note, Komrun, the registration fee is R125. Perhaps you are including the name reservation again because the grand total is R175 :D

It is very possible that I made a mistake. It was the first time that I tried this.
I followed their instructions to the T.

Guess its part of my learning experience. I will try again.

Hi
I received notification from cipc that my company was registered today.

The email address definitely is quicker way to get documents to cipc.

So completed the name reservation and have a few questions:

I do not yet have company premises as this will be the next thing I do.

Can I leave this blank or use my home address? Will I have problems in the future using my home address? Would a P.O. Box be ok?

Also have some questions regarding the actual company registration. They already want my financial year stuff. Is it best to make it end feb like SA or shift it to march?

Then they also want auditors. I thought the new company process means auditors aren't necessary? Will I have to pay for one even though I haven't started trading yet? What are the costs involved?

Then directors and secretary.

Can both be me or do I actually need to get 2 other people involved in this process?

Just watching the CIPC video they mention shares as well. Do I need to worry about that even though it's just me?

If I want to include another person as a director but make sure I have control by making the split 49/51?

@Chevron - Financial yearend would be best to stay at Feb, as it will make your future workings with SARS easier.

Whether or not you have to appoint a secretary, Auditor and audit committee, depends on the MOI you choose....

Thank you for this.

Thought I'd give it a shot.

Registration was fast and easy enough.

Deposited a R50 on Friday morning - EFT via FNB to their Absa account - and on Saturday morning it reflected in my account.

Reserved a name, and 3 additional names, Saturday morning, which was a fairly easy process.

Now just waiting for some sort of confirmation from them....

So did you appoint things like auditors and issue shares at the start?

Okay, now heading for 7 days, 4 of which was work days - still no word on the name reservation. Typically government agencies in SA, no real difference.

Nevermind, spoke to someone at CIPC today and they said that name reservation could take up to 1 year if there are delays, but normally anywhere from 1 week to 3 months to reserve a name.
