Too scared to update to new OS in case you nuke it? Don't worry. Here is a fix that not only revives the BB, but updates it as you fix it.
Got Error 507? Then it is nuked. Just a blank screen with no error? Then you have to totally nuke it. To do so you have to download BBSAK. Plug your phone in and when your Pin No. appears, click "wipe". This will clear all data to Error 507. Now you good. You have a totally nuked phone.
Download and run the new OS from MTN or VC or BB website and install it on your laptop/desktop.
1. Now BBSAK nor BB DM will recognize your phone or find the new OS. Even if it does, it will not install it.
2. Go to C: - Programs- Common files- RIM - Apploader. Then delete the Vendor XML file near the bottom.
3. On the top. Double click on Loader exe file. This might show as "Application".
4. A box will open but now connect your BB to the PC with the battery removed.
5. Click NEXT.
6. A box will open with "Connection" and a blank string. Or it might show "COM 1".
7. Replace your battery but have your mouse icon hovering on 'Next".
8. As soon as it shows "UNKNOWN', click on Next. You must do it quickly.
Bobs your uncle. It will download all.
Now if at No. 6 it shows your Pin immediately, you have to Uninstall the OS AND the DM as they work together. Then reload the DM first and then the OS from your "Completed Downloads". This happens if you have exposed these Apps to your phone before and they "remember" your Pin.
Then start from No.2 again.
This is "Fool Proof"and works every time.
