I'm confused! Are you trying to recover stuff from a formatted memory card?
If so, there are card recovery utilities available to do this if you have a card reader.

If you have deleted files from the handset it might be possible to recover them depending on handset make/model and if a Factory Reset was carried out?

Presumably you made copies of it before intentionally nuking the data, no?

If the internal storage shows on as a drive when connected to a PC then you could try a FAT32 tool. e.g. GetDataBack for FAT. If not then your SOL.

its showing as a portable device, so i installed recuva but it does not pick it up

Has be be a drive with a letter not just any device connected. I'm afraid AFAIK you can't recover.

Sadly like most Samsung's the contacts are stored in NAM and once deleted you wont get them back without some pretty serious forensic software and JTAG direct to the memory chip!

is that the same for the sms's, cos i also had some business cards sent to me
