So, I have an old windows tablet lying around. I managed to try out Ubuntu 16.04 on it, got it up and running in no time. But I have one issue and no amount of googling has resolved this problem.

I cannot find a way to enable right click on the touch screen. I want to be able to long press on an icon or file etc and get the right click menu option, it just doesn't work.

I checked out the accessablity options, enabled the option which switched click on a long press, and still nothing.

Any help peeps?

Is there any distro with great touch screen support out the box?

What make/model is the tablet? Have you tried a newer version of Ubuntu or a newer Kernel version? The newer Linux Kernels have much improved touch support.

I read about the 2 finger press, I tried to do it, but it doesn't work or I am not doing it properly.

The long press works really well on windows or smart phones, struggling to understand how this is such an issue on linux

its an old Iconia tab - W500. I am on Ubuntu 16.04 - dont think its very outdated.

Re-install Nautilus. Or install "Advance Settings" from the Software center and open it, go under desktops, set the file manager to handle the desktop.

I dont think advance setting is available for ubuntu 16.04??

Dunno if this will work for you...

You need to enable the secondary click (as AliNa commented) with gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.a11y.mouse secondary-click-enabled "true" or with dconf editor.

Then it is possible that Ubuntu handles the touchscreen partially like a touchpad, where a touch does not trigger mouse-press. Instead you need to short-tap + touch-and-hold.

Other than that, it looks like you are stuck with the situation, as from some Google results, it seems to be an issue.
