How to "Route" (share) WiFi ISP

Hi,

Following situation.

I am connecting to my ISP's access point simply with my built in wireless card to their access point and I can go online after establishing a PPPOE connection.

Question:

How can I share this connection with another computer/iphone or whatsoever without using an ad-hoc connection to the laptop.

I want to connect with laptop and iphone to a router in my flat which connects me to the IPS's access point. But I have no clue what router can do that or what equipment I need to do that.

PC1 : Wireless NW Card {Is now being used by PPPOE = Internet}
PC1 : PPPOE = Internet

Laptop = WiFi / Ethernet
IPhone = Bluetooth?

Shopping List:
-Buy 1 network card for your PC.
-Buy 1 wireless router / switch (Not an ADSL switch / router, just a plain WiFi router)
-Buy Bluetooth USB Dongle (If IPhone does BT)

PC1 : PPPOE = Internet [Shared connection using Windows connection sharing]
PC1 : New Network Card [Yes, you have to install this in your PC1)

Install: WiFi Router + Switch in your home.

Connect PC1 : New Network Card -> Wireless Router
Laptop can now connect to Wireless Router using WiFi.
Laptop can use Windows connection sharing to connect to internet through PC1 : PPPOE.

IPhone : Connects via bluetooth (I think)

Plug in BlueTooth dongle in PC1.
Marry the IPhone and the PC.

IPhone can now connect to internet through PC1 : PPPOE.

If your IPhone can Wi-Fi, then it can connect as your laptop does.

Thank you for the detailed question, BUT iphone does not bluetooth like any other phone, only for headset, no file sharing or similar. Only once the next update comes out.

The other thing is that I don't want to share the internet connection via the laptop simply because of the reason that I don't have to have the laptop running if I lie in bed with the iphone and go to sleep. So I want to be able to connect with the iphone WITHOUT needing the laptop.

I want both to be able to connect on their own to a router, and this router is connected to the ISP's access point.

The way you described it is the way I have it now, but as I said it is inconvenient, doesn't work properly all the time and the range is very limited.

What i would try is get a wireless router, and connect it to your isp. After that have all your devices connect to the router via cable/wifi and all you simply need to do is dial out your pppoe connection. That is if your isp will allow you to establish more than one connection on the same account else you will have to setup a server which will runs the pppoe connection and then share it via a web proxy.

as for the iphone, unless it will be able to do wireless, you will need to get a usb dongle and run it on a pc with some sort of ICS or web proxy.

OK, if you iPhone can do wireless, then you should be able to set the IP or DHCP if you wish and set your internet connection to pppoe. Try find a MIMO router ( with two antenna's ) and see if it's possible to used one as a client and the other as an access point. I'm not sure about that since I've never had one.
