Hi everybody,

Was wondering if anybody here has managed to sell any of their old CRT displays. I have a really nice Philips 19" Flat Screen that I want to get off my hands, but I don't really know how much to ask for it or where to sell it.

Anybody have any advice? Was hoping to get like R300 for it (such a shame - bought it new for R2700  talk about depreciation)

Thanks again.

I gave away 2x 19" CRT's about a month ago, cause damn, they really do take up a lot of space :D

Luckily the people that took them still had 14" CRT's, so was more than happy to take them off my hands

Hahaha what>> some people use them for other things..

Cape Ads, Gumtree and carbonite.co.za will get them sold easily. You can use any of the other classifieds as well, myBroadband, sybaritic, systemshock.co.za.

I sold two 17" CRT's a while ago for R300/250.

start a thread on say some IT forum, maybe asking if anyone knows how to sell a CRT - maybe you will get one or two bites...

If that doesn't work, then shoot, bidorbuy is a decent place, then theres gumtree, junkmail etc etc

One mans trash is another mans gold! Go to your free mass marketing places, people who don't have money to buy new monitors will gladly snap it up. Ask for about R300 - R400, bearing in mind that you can get 19" LCD panels for really cheap now, about R899. So it has to be worth it for them!

You probably won't get much for it out there - I flog all my older decent stuff on Bid or Buy - no hassles yet.
Recently sold my "as new" 17-inch Samsung 793S CRT, and only got R105.00 for it...

I handed my philips 19inch to the agents, to dispose of for me - was taking up space and was a hassle to get rid of.

CRT's are not that bad! I can appreciate a high quality 21" CRT, I used to have one. Their viewing angles, colour accuracy and refresh rate are better than LCD's. Of course most are less sharp, and they're very thick and heavy.

I put my 17" CRT in the drive way - someone took advantage of the special within 10min.
