Hey, I'm really struggling with getting my Xbox Live up and running. Can anyone help me? I was hoping I could follow advice via trial and error.

I have my iburst UTD modem connected to my laptop via USB. The connection is called wbs.

Now my xbox is connected via ethernet to my laptop. that is called Local Area Connection.

I enabled sharing on my wbs connection for the ethernet connection.

Now I can't connect to Live, wtf.

When I enabled sharing it setted the IP manually. After that I made it automatic, still didn't work. On my xbox is also automatic. My IP Address keeps failing when I test the connection from the Xbox, but I don't know what's wrong as I'm not too familiar with networks.

Weird thing is that it worked fine yesterday, so why did it stop working? and why can't I get it back up?

I've got the same setup except I'm using ICS's DHCP function. Worked a charm.

This is ICS.....

Anyway, when I tried the manual settings on the Xbox I entered the incorrect DNS. So I've changed my local area connection to the fixed ip.

Here is what just got it working right now (on xbox):

6. Enter manual settings in the Dashboard for IP address, subnet mask, DNS address and gateway:
• IP Address : 192.168.0.2
• Subnet mask : 255.255.255.0
• Default Gateway : 192.168.0.1
• DNS server (Primary): 192.168.0.1
• DNS server (Secondary): 192.168.0.1

Anyway, I'm gonna play Halo 3 now.

This is still not 100%. Why did it not work with having it on automatic?? Can someone please help me with that puzzle!
