i was told i could setup a network between a my pc and someones laptop with my router... so thats all ok i got that working i can see that persons pc on the network and everything that person joined my homegroup (win7) .. and i we could see eachothers files... ok so that was all ok... but now we were bored and tried to play WC3 ... but when we create a game the laptop/or pc ... cant find any game created? any ideas?

This is just a Warcraft III issue.

If you want to play a LAN game, you should NOT be using w3l to launch Warcraft III.
Secondly, both Warcraft III versions MUST be exactly the same, otherwise it won't work either.
Lastly, both the PC & laptop has to be on the same IP range, otherwise the person who wants to join the game won't be able to detect it.

If you can see each other's files and what not over the network it's most likely not a netowrk issue, but rather:

A) a version conflict between your Warcraft and his, make sure you're both running the same version. (this can be seen in the opening menu in the bottom right corner)
B) either one or both of your firewall's is blocking the game. Either set your firewall to allow it to access the required ports etc, or turn it off completely (but remember to turn it on again when done :P)

Not entirely true, you just BOTH have to use W3L or it will cause issues.

w3l should only be used to connect to PvPGN servers and not for anything else, like playing on a LAN!

So ja, it might actually work if both run w3l, but I'd advise against it for LAN games.

ill try that maybe we didnt start the same thing versions are the same thats for sure cause i installed the same thing on both pcs

tried lanning sniper ghost warrior... same thing cant find games on the server
