I just completed a clean Windows 7 install and am having trouble sharing folders and drives from it.

I selected the drive in question, clicked advanced sharing, selected to share this folder, and under permissions I made sure that users have full access. Under the security tab of the drive I chose to allow full control to anyone, which is what I want.

Now when I try to access this drive on the network, I can see it on the network, but when I click the drive it tells me that I don't have permission to access it. So I tried to share a folder from within the drive using the same method as above, and although I can see the drive, I can't access it.

I can access the public folders just fine, but not the drives I really need to share.

I have turned off password protected sharing as it is not needed on my home network.

Does anyone have some advice, please?

Installed all the service packs yet?

Run Windows Update repeatedly until there is no more.

Had the same problem with the initial release.

I found the problem.

I had to manually add the group "Everyone" to each folder within the drive and assign full control to the group. Seems Windows had a problem assigning full control to all of the files in the sub-folders and at that point just stops assigning them altogether.

I've manually done it now and all is working great...

Yip, one of the patches would have added that back.
