How to Share Internet With ADSL Modem

It might be that your ISP only allows one concurrent connection at a time. As soon as another device dials the first one gets disconnected. It would be better to get something else(router) to to the dialing. You could just let your modem dial out and enable DHCP again. This should allow internet on all the pc's.

Hmmm I tried this but for some reason my Pc's kept getting IP conflicts and I was never able to fix it. My ISP is Webafrica, I am on Home Uncapped 384k so I do only have 1 concurrent connection. I have a Afrihost 1GB free account, going to try and dial in on the one Pc with it and use Webafrica on the other.


Update: Confirmed I am able to use internet on both Pc's but with different ADSL accounts, how do I get my Webafrica account on both Pc's without getting an IP conflict?

Why on earth are you dialing up with your OS, isn't the modem supposed to do that automatically? If I where you, delete all the network connections in the network connections area (except for the LAN adapter of course) assign IP addresses and DNS servers automatically, then reset your modem and put in your login info there, Ive got 6 computers running on my line, and none of them dial up, the modem handles it for me. If you want static IP addresses for the computers poke around in the modems DHCP server settings, if for your actual line look in the advanced ADSL settings

Router (don't bridge the thing, just set it up as if it were your hub) > Normal LAN Cable > HUB or Wireless Router (don't plug it into a WAN port as I did when I first added wifi its a headache) > Normal Cable or Wireless link > PC's

Because when I set everything to automatic I would get IP address conflicts even when both Pc's were told to obtain automatically.

I don't understand what everyone is talking about a WAN port. The ADSL modem has a Ethernet Port which is connected to a 8 port hub when is connected to the two Pc's.

I was able to have the power adapter for my router tested and it turns out it was broken, so I got a Ellies adapter from Incredible Corruption for R130 and now I'm using the router again. I could never get the ADSL modem to work correctly with the automatic DHCP and PPOEEE, for some reason the ADSL modem gives each Pc the international IP for my account instead of a Lan IP.
