Yeah, don't think I've ever seen what I'd call a "successful" internet cafe. Maybe this one in chinatown in cyrildene where people go play dota etc all day makes some cash but I doubt much. I went in there once just to check some mail and stuff and pass some time and they didn't even bother to charge me
I agree - I used to work part time at an Internet cafe after i finished school.
This was in a busy shopping centre (Gateway) - and they were just managing to survive.
I had an Internet Cafe. It did not make me rich It was in a CBD and was quite busy. Turnover was about 20000-25000 pm and profit about 10000-15000-. Most of the money was generated with making copies, binding, faxing, printing and selling airtime. I was lucky that I had a honest lady running the shop for me. The biggest expense was rental of R5000 pm. I sold the business after about 1 year and was happy with the price I got.
I found a shop on a busy street signed a rental agreement. I bought 15 used pc's, 512 ADSL line, router and chairs. The tables I made myself. I used software for the billing, timig etc. I think it was called cafezee. I rented a laser copier/printer/fax and bought a colour printer, binding machine etc.
There is always a risk involved with a shop. I was lucky that nothing happened at the shop, but the shop next to mine was robbed and the owner shot. That was when I decided to sell.
