Is there a way (or an app) to stop email from downloading during the night? I like to keep my phone on in case I get emergency calls during the night but get woken up by emails coming in. I guess I could disable the vibration and sounds for email and leave the phone ringer on but then I'd need to change it everyday so that I hear the notifications during the day. I used to have a phone (BB or Nokia) that let me set the times during which it would check for email e.g. 7am to 7pm only. Any ideas on a similar iphone solution.

If you have jailbreak, there's a solution - SBSchedule, there may be others.

Not sure it was my BB could have been on the Nokia E71 I had. Can't remember.

SBSetting would be great but I'm on iOS5 Beta 2 so don't want to JB till full iOS 5 is out an stable.

Cant you just switch off your mobile data connection and wifi at night?

Thats what i do.

I was hoping that the notifications updates in iOS5 would address this issue, but that doesn't seem to be the case! At the moment I run all my email notifications through Boxcar, which has the option to set a "quiet period" every day when you just get badge updates and nothing else - no chiming away while you're asleep. Outside of the quiet period it functions normally with sounds etc. The iOS email notifications are turned off completely to avoid duplication and the system works really nicely. It won't apply to SMS notifications and the like, but covers emails, Twitter and FB notifications.

I was hoping to switch back to the inbuilt iOS system when version 5 is released, but it doesn't look like this will be possible.
