Hi all, in July I ditched my Telkom pre-paid as they moved to Vodacom for roaming and I don't get Vodacom reception. I moved to MTN and I bitterly regret having to do so as I am constantly bombarded by "Buy This" cr*p. I have used the normal Stop response with no effect whatsoever and I have also used the *997# again with no luck. Apart from using a hammer on the SIM does anyone have a means to stop this.

Takes a while to stop unfortunately.

*997# has to do Please Call me ads.

*130*603# - stops promotions after recharging
*130*601# - for notifications after a call

Unfortunately it is not the answer. When I input the *130*603 code I get the message that I have opted IN to marketing which means that I was out before hand so I re-sent the code to opt out again and I got the same with the other code.
Thanks anyway

Truecaller has a spam filter that works wonders. I've added the spam phrase "opt out" and it cut down on 99% of spam messages.

And sell your soul and all your contact details (you do have ALL their permissions right?) to TrueCaller so that they can make money.

And despite all that I still give them money every month as well!

The bastards!
