Does anyone know how I can test while working with no-ip? I have a VNC connection that I am trying to get working as well as a FTP but you can not test from the same side as your router. I really do not wanna use dial up or GPRS. Would it work if I went through a VPN and if yes are there any free VPN's around that I can test with?

You can test it by going through an external proxy server, if you have a SAIX connection then you can use cache.saix.co.za:8080 as your proxy.

To set the proxy in Internet Explorer:
Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections -> LAN Settings

You can't use a transparent proxy :( If needs to be a full annon proxy and the ones I have tryed work hellova slow and that is how I tested http and got it to work on FTP but you can not test VNC on that. Think maybe a SOCKS 5 will work too with a SOCKS client but does anyone know of a freebe?

The transparent proxy will work fine on most connections, I've used it many a time for testing HTTP and FTP connections. If you want to use of a SOCKS connection you could try CCProxy and make use of its cascading proxy feature to get you outside of your local network.

To be able to test a VNC connection from the same PC on which you are running VNC, you need to enable "Allow loopback connections". You'll need to work out where to set it depending on which version of VNC you are using, WinVNC has a checkbox on the interface, some of the other version require you to manually add a registry entry.

Thanks man, got it all sorted now. Thanks for your help :D
