How to unlock - need help

Phone is a 3g, firmware is the new 4 version, did jailbraik the phone but cannot connect with VC sim to use cydia to do the unlock-thing with ultrasnow. Is there a way around the dilemma or is the phone dustbin material now? Would appreciate any help
